Air Transat A330 and Emirates B777 Collide on Ground in Miami

Dec 07, 2023Dec 07, 2023

On the 13th of April 2023, an Emirates Boeing 777 collided with an Air Transat Airbus A330 at Miami International Airport.

The Air Transat Airbus A330-243, with registration C-GUBL had just arrived from Toronto as flight TS948 when it clipped its wings with a parked Emirates Boeing 777-300ER with registration A6-EGH.

The Emirates B777 was parked in position H10A when the Air Transat A330's left winglet hit the right horizontal stabilizer of the Emirates aircraft. The A330 was taxiing into gate H8 after landing.

"Air Transat flight had just arrived from Toronto and was taxiing to the gate at 9:30 when its wing clipped the wing of an Emirates aircraft parked at the gate next to it."

Following the collision, emergency personnel responded to the scene.

At the time of the collision, passengers were on board the A330, but no one was injured in the incident.

At least one of the aircraft sustained substantial damage, prompting an investigation by the NTSB. Both aircraft have been grounded since then. An investigation has been launched into the incident.

Where were the wing walkers???

Jerry, my guess is, they refused the clot shots and got fired.

I also see that a British Airways plane hit a parked Emirates aircraft in Dubai back in 2020. Maybe Emirates needs to have its parking permit revoked!

It will be interesting to read the report. Why there would be a plane park anywhere near the route of an incoming aircraft is hard to understand for a non-aviation person like me. Unless the Air Transat pilot is a terrible driver. I wonder how much responsibility the tower bears for this.
