Under the Government of India's RGSA scheme to promote traditional small-scale skill industries, Jharkhand Government's Panchayati Raj Director, Nesha Oraon inspected the Bamboo Art Center located in Sisai block of Gumla constructed with the aim of promoting the traditional arts of the district and increasing the income of the artisans. She assured every possible technical financial help to the artisans.With the initiative of Gumla Deputy Commissioner (DC), Sushant Gaurav, the district administration is constantly working to give recognition to the bamboo artisans, who were out of the mainstream of the district. While on one hand Bamboo Art Center has been constructed for bamboo artisans, on the other hand bamboo tool kits are also being distributed as well as training is being given for their skill development.During her visit Oraon met the bamboo craftsmen and the facilities provided by the district administration. She heard the story from the mouth of the bamboo craftsmen. Seeing the happiness and satisfaction on the faces of all the bamboo craftsmen, she expressed immense joy and also appreciated the products made by the craftsmen. She said that Gumla is the first district of Jharkhand where such work is being done at grass root level for bamboo craftsmen.The Director said that in the light of the instructions received from the Government of India, the Jharkhand Government will identify the traditional crafts of different districts and prepare plans for their upliftment. In this regard, in the course of the Gumla tour, the Bamboo Art Center made for bamboo craftsmen in Sisai was inspected and the ground situation was seen after meeting the craftsmen. She said that the initiative of Gumla DC for the upliftment of the craftsmen is commendable.Impressed by the work being done by the district administration, Oraon assured cooperation to the district administration for the upliftment of bamboo artisans. She said that financial and technical assistance will be provided by the Government to take the initiative of the district administration one step further.Bamboo artisans gifted bamboo products to the Director. Accepting the gift, she also purchased bamboo items and assured bamboo artisans to cooperate in their economic development by connecting them with a large marketing area.Apart from this, the Director has also asked the Panchayati Raj Officer to give consent soon for the construction work of Basia Brass Crafts Development Center, Mandar Crafts Development Center for Cultural Identity of Jharkhand, Clay Art Center for Mati Craftsmen in Toto, proposed by the District Administration was assured.With the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, several works are being done to strengthen the sources of income of bamboo artisans. Marking the main places of bamboo craftsmen of the district, 8 bamboo art centers have been constructed in Sisai, Basia, Ghaghra, Chainpur, Palkot, Bharno, Raidih and Kamdara blocks. Bamboo tool kits are being distributed among 1600 bamboo artisans identified in the entire district. So far, bamboo tool kits have been distributed among more than 1200 bamboo artisans. Apart from this, according to the changing times, bamboo artisans are also given technical training from time to time by the coordinators of the Chief Minister's Small and Cottage Industries Development Board, in which training is also being given to make decorative materials and furniture.
